This isn't just the thoughts of fans, but the writers and director Dan Aykroyd and John Landis also felt the movie failed. While the soundtrack is good, the movie itself failed to capture the magic of the original. Its sequel on the other hand has a far less loveable reception. Like many people, I'm a huge fan of "Blues Brothers", with its wacky musical/comedy/crime genre in the mix, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't enjoy it.

Since its release in 1998 a lot of musicians have shed off their mortal coil and shook hands with the devil at their crossroads. It does have one thing it's favour over the original and that is an enormous role call.
Today one of the most dreadful sequels in Hollywood history (that's a personal opinion, they should never have touched the original.) was playing on the tube again.
